Alexander Nicholson was born on 11 March 1832 at West Kirby, Cheshire.1,2,3 He was the son of Alexander Nicholson and Martha Davies.1
He was recorded as living with his mother and siblings Donald, Thomas and Martha in the 1841 census at Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire.1
He was recorded as living with his mother and siblings Donald, Thomas, Effie, Martha and Malcolm in the 1851 census at Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire. He was recorded as being 19 years old.2 His occupation was recorded as being a fisherman in the census.2
Alexander Nicholson married Elizabeth Jones, daughter of Charles Owen Jones and Margaret Griffiths, on Tuesday, 23 October 1855 at West Kirby, Cheshire. They were 23 and 23 respectively.4 Alexander Nicholson was a railway warehouseman.5
His father died 25 January 1871 at the age of 62. Alexander was aged 38 when this happened.
He was recorded as head of household in the 1871 census with Elizabeth Jones as his spouse at Llynclys Bridge, Llynclys, Shropshire. He was 39 years old. Also living inthe house were six of their children aged 12 years to just one month old.6 His occupation was recorded as being a manager of a lime works in the census.6
Alexander died on 16 April 1872 at Oswestry, Shropshire, at age 40.7,8
