Thomas Nicholson was born on 26 February 1837 at West Kirby, Cheshire.1,2,3 He was the son of Alexander Nicholson and Martha Davies.1
He was recorded as living with his mother and siblings Alexander, Donald and Martha in the 1841 census at Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire.1
He was recorded as living with his mother and siblings Alexander, Donald, Effie, Martha and Malcolm in the 1851 census at Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire. He was recorded as being 14 years old.2 His occupation was recorded as being a fisherman in the census.2
Thomas Nicholson married Elizabeth Roberts in June 1858 at West Derby Registration District, Liverpool. They were 21 and 20 respectively.4,5
He was recorded as head of household in the 1861 census with Elizabeth Roberts as his spouse at 1 The Green, Little Meols[e], West Kirby, Cheshire. He was 24 years old. Also visiting the house was his eight year old sister-in-law. Thomas was not actually recorded in the census, presumably as he was out fishing.6
His father died 25 January 1871 at the age of 62. Thomas was aged 33 when this happened.
He was recorded as head of household in the 1871 census with Elizabeth Roberts as his spouse. He was 34 years old. Also living in the house were four of their children. Thomas was not actually in the house at the time of the census.7
He was recorded as head of household in the 1881 census with Elizabeth Roberts as his spouse at Alfred Street, Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire. He was 44 years old. Also in the household were five of their children aged 5 to 17.8 His occupation was recorded as being a fisherman in the census.8
He was recorded as head of household in the 1891 census with Elizabeth Roberts as his spouse at Marmion Road, Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire. He was 54 years old. The Nicholson house was located next to Thomas' sister Effie's house, and in the same street as his son Peter's. Also living in the house were two of their sons.9
Thomas died on 26 April 1894 at Wigan, Lancashire, at age 57.10
