Jessie Elder Law Reid was born on 29 September 1852 at St. Nicholas, Aberdeen.1 She was the daughter of James Reid and Margaret Gibb.1
They was recorded as living with her parents, aunt and siblings Annie, James, Robina and Irvine in the 1861 census at 58 John Street, Aberdeen.2 Jessie Elder Law Reid was a scholar in April 1861.2
She was recorded as living with her parents and siblings Annie, David, Robina, Irvine, Charles and Margaret in the 1871 census at Aberdeen. She was recorded as being 15 years old.3 Jessie Elder Law Reid was a teacher on 2 April 1871.3
Her father died 6 November 1881 at the age of 66. Jessie was aged 29 when this happened.
On 3 May 1882 her sister Robina died at the age of 24.
Jessie Elder Law Reid married David Smith circa 1890.4
She was recorded as living with her mother, her husband and six-month old son, and younger brother Irvine in the 1891 census at 94 Irvine Place, in Aberdeen. She was recorded as being 37 years old (clearly an error).4 Her occupation was recorded as being a retired minister's wife in the census.4
Jessie may have died in 1902 at New Forest, Hampshire.5
