James G, Reid was born in 1851 at Aberdeen.1 He was the son of James Reid and Margaret Gibb.1 James G, Reid was a scholar in April 1861.1
He was recorded as living with his parents, aunt and siblings Annie, Jessie and David, Robina and Irvine in the 1861 census at 58 John Street, Aberdeen.1
His father died 6 November 1881 at the age of 66.
James may have died on 10 November 1907 at Essex.2
