Albert Henry Fooks was also known as Bert.1,2 Albert was born on Tuesday, 14 March 1882 at Emu Bay, Tasmania.3 He was the son of Rev. Henry Samuel Cox Fookes and Jane Maria Murray. He presumably lived with his parents at Waratah, Tasmania, in 1890.4
His mother died 22 August 1903 at the age of 52. Albert was aged 21 when this happened.5
Albert and Lily Euphemia Eveline Nicholson attended the wedding of Charles Leigh Clare Nicholson and his sister Louise Augusta Fookes in a Church of England ceremony at St. Martin's Church on Sunday, 8 December 1907 at Queenstown, Tasmania. They also signed the marriage certificate as witnesses. Others attending the wedding may have included Rev. Henry Samuel Cox Fookes as father of the bride, Euphemia Scott Gibb as mother of the groom and Donald Nicholson as father of the groom.6 Albert lived in December 1907 at Queenstown, Tasmania.7 In January 1910 Lily Euphemia Eveline Nicholson and her mother Euphemia Scott Gibb enjoyed a three week holiday to the the North West Coast of Tasmania, stopping at the end at Waratah, Tasmania. At the same time, Lily's future husband was also visiting.1 Albert Henry Fooks was a bank employee with the National Bank on 25 January 1910 at Queenstown, Tasmania.1 Some of the extended family posed for a photograph in Queenstown, Tasmania, circa 1915.
He married Lily Euphemia Eveline Nicholson, youngest child of a bank manager, daughter of Donald Nicholson and Euphemia Scott Gibb, in a Catholic Apostolic Church ceremony at Catholic Apostolic Church Queensbury street on Tuesday, 11 September 1917 at the Melbourne suburb of Carlton. He was 35 and his wife Lily was 39.. Their choice of a place to marry could not have been an easy decision; Lily's father had been a priest of this church a decade ago, whilst Albert's had been a Anglican minister.8,9
His wife Lily died 14 August 1918 at the age of 40, leaving him a widower at age 36. They had been married for only a year. Albert Henry Fooks was a bank teller in 1919 at Queenstown, Tasmania.10 He retired as manager of the Commercial Bank of Australasia after 45 years of banking service. His place was taken by his son-in-law Albert Henry Fooks on 1 October 1919 at Queenstown, Tasmania.10
He married Annette Margaretha Ellen Louise Lauer, at All Saints Cathedral circa 1920 at West Wyalong, New South Wales..11
His father died 10 February 1924 at the age of 76. Albert was aged 41 when this happened.
He may have attended the wedding of his nephew in the marriage of Hubert Nicholson and Mavis Lily Oaten in a Church of England ceremony at All Saints on Saturday, 17 February 1934 at the Melbourne suburb of Kooyong. Mavis married with the consent of her mother. They went on to have some eight children together, only two of whom reached adulthood.12,13 Albert lived in 1937 at Commercial Bank of Australasia, in Rushworth, Victoria.14 Albert (and presumably his spouse Annette) lived in 1954 at 12 Grant Street, in Redcliffe, Queensland.14
Albert died on 25 June 1960 at Redcliffe, Queensland, at age 78.3
