Hans Simensen Saxlund was also known as Hans Simensen Hestnes (in the Norwegian tradition) when he was at this farm.2 He may have been born in 1752 at Norway.3 He was born circa 1753 at at Hestnes farm Stange Parish, Hedmark, Norway.4,5 He was the son of Simen Hansen Hestnes and Anne Nilsdatter Mostue.1 Hans Simensen Saxlund was baptised on Sunday, 21 January 1753 at Stange Parish, Hedmark, Norway.6

On Tuesday, 26 March 1765 Mogens Mogensen Hestnes (Arstad) gets a waiver for Hestnes farm from his stepchildren Randi and Hans. One wonders if at the approximate ages of about 20 and 12 respectively they received fair compensation. Mogens then mortgages the farm to Lars Olsen Torgård.7

Mogens Mogensen Hestnes (Arstad) announces to parliament on Tuesday, 12 July 1768 that Hestnes farm has burned down.7 Hans lived in September 1770 at Stange Parish, Hedmark.3 He was confirmed on Sunday, 30 September 1770 at Stange Parish, Hedmark.3 He and Marie Nielsdatter Saxlund were engaged on 28 April 1781 at Stange Parish, Hedmark.8

He married Marie Nielsdatter Saxlund, on Thursday, 14 June 1781 at Ottestad, Stange Parish, Hedmark, Norway..8 Hans and Marie lived in November 1782 at Stange Parish, Hedmark. Hans and Marie lived in September 1785 at at Elton Østre farm near the village of Ottestad Stange Parish, Hedmark, Norway.9 Hans and Marie lived in June 1788 at at Sylju farm near the village of Stange Stange Parish, Hedmark, Norway.10 As of 17 July 1788, Hans Simensen Saxlund was also known as Hans Simensen Lindstadvolden (in the Norwegian tradition) when he was at this farm.11

On Friday, 15 April 1791 Hans bought Sylju farm from brothers Ole and Nils Larsen for 1,000 rdr.11 Hans and Marie lived in March 1796 at at Saxlund (or Sakslund) farm near the village of Stange Stange Parish, Hedmark, Norway.12

Hans Simensen Saxlund sells Sylju farm in 1801 to Lieutenant Helle Andreas Barkley for 1827 rdr, nearly doubling his money.11

He was recorded as head of household in the 1801 census with Marie Nielsdatter Saxlund as his spouse at Stange, Stange Parish, Hedmark.4 His occupation was recorded as being a blacksmith in the census.4

Hans died on 25 February 1823 at Stange, Stange Parish, Hedmark.13 His body was interred on 9 March 1823 at Stange Parish, Hedmark.14
