Marie was born at Sylju farm circa 1760 at near the village of Stange Stange Parish, Hedmark, Norway.1,2 She and Hans Simensen Saxlund were engaged on 28 April 1781 at Stange Parish, Hedmark, Norway.3

She married Hans Simensen Saxlund, son of Simen Hansen Hestnes and Anne Nilsdatter Mostue, on Thursday, 14 June 1781 at Ottestad, Stange Parish, Hedmark, Norway..3 Marie and Hans lived in November 1782 at Stange Parish, Hedmark. Marie and Hans lived in September 1785 at at Elton Østre farm near the village of Ottestad Stange Parish, Hedmark, Norway.4 Marie and Hans lived in June 1788 at Stange, Stange Parish, Hedmark.5 Marie and Hans lived in March 1796 at at Saxlund (or Sakslund) farm near the village of Stange Stange Parish, Hedmark, Norway.6

Hans Simensen Saxlund sells Sylju farm in 1801 to Lieutenant Helle Andreas Barkley for 1827 rdr, nearly doubling his money.7

Marie Nielsdatter Saxlund was recorded as the spouse of Hans Simensen Saxlund in the 1801 census at Stange, Stange Parish, Hedmark. She was recorded as being 41 years old.1
