Hans Hansen Saxland was also known as Hans Hansen Saug (in the Norwegian tradition) when he was at this farm.2 He was born circa 1800 at at Saxlund (or Sakslund) farm near the village of Stange Stange Parish, Hedmark, Norway.3 He was the son of Hans Simensen Saxlund and Marie Nielsdatter Saxlund.1 Hans Hansen Saxland was baptised on Sunday, 13 July 1800 at Ottestad, Stange Parish, Hedmark, Norway.3
He was recorded as living with his parents and five siblings Anne, Oliv, Dorthe, Niels and Simen in the 1801 census at Stange, Stange Parish, Hedmark. He was recorded as being 1 years old.4
Hans Hansen Saxland married Anne Simensdatter Haug Røhne circa 1835.5
