He was recorded as living with his mother, his father, his two step-brothers and his little sister John, William and Elizabeth in the 1891 census at 13 Stonehill Street, Liverpool. He was recorded as being 2 years old.1
He was recorded as living with his parents, his two older step-brothers and his younger siblings John, William, Elizabeth, Donald and Hannah in the 1901 census at 9 Dawber street, Everton, Liverpool. He was recorded as being 12 years old.2 His occupation was recorded as being a scholar in the census.2
He was recorded as living with his mother, a boarder, his older step-brother and his siblings John, Elizabeth, Donald and Hannah in the 1911 census at 32 Breckfield Road, South Liverpool. He was recorded as being 22 years old.3 His occupation was recorded as being a window cleaner in the census.3
