William Nicholson was born circa 1863 at Liverpool.1 He was the son of Donald Nicholson and Elizabeth Ann Medhurst.1
His mother died 6 March 1865 at the age of 28.
He was recorded as living with his father and stepmother, his father and step-mother's infant boy, and his siblings Thomas, Donald, Alexander and Jane in the 1871 census at 3 Edgar Terrace Hulton Street, Moss Side, Manchester. He was recorded as being 8 years old.1 His occupation was recorded as being a scholar in the census.1 He was presumably living with his father and stepmother at Plumley, Cheshire, in June 1878.2 He was presumably living with his father and stepmother at Lower Peover, Cheshire, in December 1879.3
William died before 1924.4
