James Samuel Westbrook was born in November 1819 at London.1 He was the son of Dr. James Henry Westbrook and Elizabeth Chapel.

James emigrated from England on 25 December 1819 on the 'Saracen.2' After a voyage of 122 days James arrived at Hobart on 25 April 1820.2


James died on 14 February 1821 at Knopwood, Tasmania, at age 1. He was buried on 15 February 1821.
