Margaret Isabella Anderson was born on 29 January 1841 at Colchester, Essex.2,1

Margaret Isabella Anderson married John Oaten, son of John Oaten and Charlotte Amelia Pellett, on Monday, 1 August 1864 at New South Wales. They were 23 and 26 respectively.2,1 Margaret and John lived in September 1867 at at Napier Street in the Melbourne suburb of Fitzroy.3 She presumably lived with her spouse John at at 36 Atherton Street in the Melbourne suburb of Fitzroy in 1870. John's brother Albert may have been living in the house previously.4

John and Margaret emigrated from New South Wales circa 1876 on the their two surviving children. John and Margaret arrived at Otago, New Zealand, circa 1876.
She presumably lived with her spouse John at Maitland Street, in Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand, in 1878.2 She presumably lived with her spouse John at George Street, in Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand, in 1880.5 She presumably lived with her spouse John at Filleul Street, in Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand, in 1886.2 She presumably lived with her spouse John at Hanover Street, in Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand, in 1886.6

Margaret died circa 1899 at Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand, of heart disease.7,8,9 Her body was interred at Northern Cemetery on 22 October 1899 at Otago, New Zealand.2
