Elizabeth Horrocks was born circa 1811 at the village of Turton near the town of Bolton, Lancashire.1,2 Elizabeth Horrocks was also known as Betty.3 Elizabeth lived in July 1848 at Turton, Bolton, Lancashire.3
She married Matthew Hornby, a crofter, at St. Peter on Sunday, 2 July 1848 at Bolton-le-Moors, Bolton, Lancashire..3
She was recorded as head of household in the 1851 census at at 31 Blackburn Road in the village of Turton near the town of Bolton, Lancashire. Her husband does not seem to appear on the census.2
She was recorded as head of household in the 1861 census at the village of Egerton near the town of Bolton, Lancashire. She was recorded as being 52 years old; also living in the house was her step-daughter, her two daughters and a family of lodgers.4
Elizabeth Horrocks was recorded as the spouse of Matthew Hornby in the 1871 census at Egerton, Bolton, Lancashire. She was recorded as being 60 years old. Also living in the house were her two daughters.5 Her occupation was recorded as being a 'home work(?)' In the census.5
