Margaret was born circa 1806 at Inverness-shire, Scotland.2

Margaret McDonald married James Nicholson, son of Donald Nicholson and Mary Margaret MacDougall, circa 1822 at Isle of Skye, Scotland.1,3 As of March 1841, Margaret McDonald was also known as Margaret Nicolson.2

They was recorded as head of household in the 1841 census at Duntulm, Kilmuir, Inverness-shire, Scotland.2

Margaret likely died before March 1851.4,5 She presumably lived with her spouse James at Mount Misery Browns Diggings, in Smythesdale, Victoria, in November 1854.6
