Ezra Jones was born circa 1880 at Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire.1 He was the son of Thomas Jones and Effie Nicholson.1
He was recorded as living with his mother, his mother's mother and older siblings Amy, Thomas, Eva, Martha and Samuel in the 1881 census. He was recorded as being just one year old.1
He was recorded as living with his mother, his mother's mother, a cousin and siblings Thomas, Martha, Noel and Hannah in the 1891 census at Marmion Road, Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire. He was recorded as being 10 years old. The Jones household was next door to Effie's brother Thomas' house.2 His occupation was recorded as being a scholar in the census.2
