Hannah Mary Jones was born circa 1885 at Hoylake, Cheshire.2 She was the daughter of Thomas Jones and Effie Nicholson.2
She was recorded as living with her mother, her mother's mother, a cousin and siblings, Martha, Ezra, Noel and Thomas in the 1891 census at Marmion Road, Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire. She was recorded as being 6 years old. The Jones household was next door to Effie's brother Thomas' house.2 Her occupation was recorded as being a scholar in the census.2
She was recorded as living with her parents, grandmother and siblings, Thomas, Martha, Noel and Amy in the 1901 census at 15 Marmion Road, Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire. She was recorded as being 16 years old.3
