Mons Nielsen was born circa 1788 at at Kvislien (or Qvissellien) farm Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark, Norway.1,2,3,4 He was the son of Niels Eriksen Houm and Ales Tollefsdatter Houm.1 Mons Nielsen was baptised on Friday, 21 March 1788 at Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark, Norway.3 He presumably lived with his parents at at Houmb (or Houm) nedre farm Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark, Norway, in November 1792.5 He presumably lived with his parents at Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark, in July 1795.6
He was recorded as living with his parents, his father's parents and four younger siblings Anne, Even, Tollef and Nils in the 1801 census at Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark. He was recorded as being 13 years old.7,8
Mons Nielsen married Marthe Pedersdatter on Thursday, 23 April 1829 at Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark.2 Mons Nielsen moved to Stange Parish, Hedmark, Norway, on 23 June 1845.1
