Hans Simensen Elton Østre was born on 28 November 1816 at at Elton Østre farm near the village of Ottestad Stange Parish, Hedmark, Norway.1 He was the son of Simen Hansen Lundgård and Kari Larsdatter Elton. He presumably lived with his parents at Ottestad, Stange Parish, Hedmark, in December 1817.1 Hans Simensen Elton Østre was baptised on Monday, 8 December 1817 at Stange Parish, Hedmark, Norway.1 He was confirmed on Sunday, 7 October 1832 at at Lundgård farm near the village of Ottestad Stange Parish, Hedmark, Norway. It was said of his schoolwork that his "book (work?) and knowledge is very good."2
Hans Simensen Elton Østre married Gonnor Larsdatter on Friday, 5 January 1838 at Christiania (now Oslo), Norway.3
