Elizabeth Horrocks was baptised at Christ Church Walmsley on Sunday, 5 December 1841 at the village of Egerton near the town of Bolton, Lancashire.2 She may have been born circa 1842 at the village of Turton near the town of Bolton, Lancashire.1 She was the daughter of John Braithwaite Horrocks and Hannah Martin.1
She was recorded as living with her parents and siblings Mary and Tomason in the 1851 census at 130 Blackburn Road, Sharples, Bolton, Lancashire. She was recorded as being 9 years old.1 Her occupation was recorded as being a scholar in the census.1
