Mary Taylor was born on 20 June 1862 at the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood.1
Mary Taylor married Charles John Battle, son of John Charles Battle and Lucy Young, in 1881 at Victoria.1 She presumably lived with her spouse Charles at at 143 Johnston Street in the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood in November 1882. This was a wooden house of 4 rooms.2 She presumably lived with her spouse Charles at at 135 Gore Street in the Melbourne suburb of Fitzroy in November 1884.3 She presumably lived with her spouse Charles at at Easey Street in the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood in November 1886.4 She presumably lived with her spouse Charles at Collingwood in January 1891. Although the house number isn't specified, the house owner is the same as when they lived at number 135.5 She presumably lived with her spouse Charles at at 135 Easey Street in the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood in 1896. This was a wooden house.6 Mary and Charles lived in 1912 at at 137 Easey Street in the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood.7 Mary's occupation was given as 'home duties' in 1912.7 She presumably lived with her spouse Charles at Collingwood in November 1916.8
It was reported to family on Wednesday, 2 January 1918 that their son Thomas had been seriously wounded in Belgium.9 Mary and Charles lived in August 1938 at at 19 Gardenvale Road in the Melbourne suburb of Caulfield.10
Mary died on 21 August 1938 at Broadford, Victoria, at age 76.1 Her body was interred at Booroondara General Cemetery on 23 August 1938 at the Melbourne suburb of Kew. She shares a headstone with her husband and daughter Lucy.11,12
