Sarah Ann Oaten

Sarah Ann Oaten was born in October 1840 at England.^2,1 She was the daughter of William Oaten and Mary Billett.¹

She was recorded as living with her parents in the 1841 census at Eastbrook, Pitminster, Somerset.³ Sarah Ann Oaten was baptised at All Saints on Monday, 11 October 1841 at Trull, Somerset.⁴

At the age of 12 Sarah emigrated from Liverpool on 15 November 1852 on the 'Marion Moore' with her parents and two siblings.^5,6,1 Sarah arrived at Victoria on 15 February 1853 with her parents and two siblings.^5,1


Sarah Ann Oaten married Arthur Cherry on Saturday, 8 September 1860 at the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood. They were 19 and 25 respectively.^4,1 She presumably lived with her parents at Collingwood. between 1865 and 1872, first at Victoria Parade and then in Duke Street.⁷ She presumably lived with her parents at Whittlesea, Victoria, in 1873.⁷ She presumably moved with her husband Arthur to Coburg, Victoria, circa 1874.⁴ Sarah and Arthur lived in 1903 at at 33 Waterfield Street in the Melbourne suburb of Coburg.⁴

Sarah died on 23 August 1914 at the Melbourne suburb of Coburg at age 73.¹
