Dorothy Alexandra Nicholson was born circa June 1891 at Wirral Registration District, Cheshire.1 She was the daughter of Alexander Peter Nicholson and Martha Elizabeth Rowland.1
She was recorded as living with her mother (her father was probably away fishing), a lodger and her siblings Henry, M. and J. in the 1901 census at 11 Marmion Road, Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire. She was recorded as being 9 years old.2
