John 'James Brown' Brown was born on 22 January 1856 at the Sydney area of Balmain.2 He was the son of Donald Brown and Charlotte Whyte.1 John 'James Brown' Brown was baptised at a Presbyterian church on Sunday, 17 February 1856 at Sydney.2 He presumably lived with his parents at Balmain in 1863.3

John 'James Brown' Brown married Lilly Isabella Francis in 1880 at Manning River, New South Wales.1

John died in 1925 at North Sydney.1
