He was recorded as living with his mother and siblings, Walter, Maria in the 1881 census at 37 Fullers Hill, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. He was recorded as being aged 5 years.10 Samuel Shorten Arthur Wade was a scholar on 3 April 1881.10 Samuel lived on 5 April 1891 at Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.4,9
Samuel Shorten Arthur Wade married Rosina Frances Pitt at St Nicholas' on Tuesday, 22 August 1899 at Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. They were 23 and 20 respectively.11,9 Samuel Shorten Arthur Wade was a sergeant Lincolnshire Regiment - 1901 Census in 1901 at Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.9 Samuel lived in 1901 at St Nicholas, Lincolnshire.6,9 Samuel lived in 1911 at Portsmouth, Hampshire. He resided in a military establishment.9 He was Battalion Sergeant Major - 2nd Lincolnshire Regiment in 1911 at Portsmouth, Hampshire.9 He was promoted 2nd Lieutenant - 2nd Bn Lincolnshire Regiment on 14 November 1914 at France.9
Samuel died on 8 December 1914 at Kemmel, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, at age 38.1,5,9 His body was interred in 1919. He has no known grave but is recorded on Le Touret Memorial.9
