Emma Oaten was born circa 1871.1 She was the daughter of Henry Oaten and Mary Ann Tuck.1 Emma Oaten was baptised on Sunday, 26 March 1871 at Pitminster, Somerset.1 28 Devonshire Street, Bridgwater, Somerset, was the family home, rented by Emma and later bought by her youngest daughter, Edna. Emma was widowed when Edna was only six, so life was not easy.1
Emma Oaten married Carter English on Sunday, 15 March 1891 at Taunton, Somerset.1
Emma died on 6 November 1943.1 She was buried on 11 November 1943 at Bristol Road Cemetery, Bristol.1
