Tollef Nilsen was also known as Toller Nielsen.2 He may have been born in 1795 at Norway.3 He was the son of Niels Eriksen Houm and Ales Tollefsdatter Houm.1 Tollef Nilsen was baptised on Sunday, 12 July 1795 at Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark, Norway.3
He was recorded as living with his parents, his father's parents and four siblings Mons, Anne, Even and Nils in the 1801 census at at Houmb (or Houm) nedre farm Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark, Norway. He was recorded as being 4 years old.2,4 Tollef lived in February 1821 at at Angelset farm Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark, Norway.1 He was a servant in November 1830.5
He married Berte Evensdatter, on Thursday, 11 November 1830 at Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark..6
