Christian was born on Saturday, 10 December 1864 at Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark, Norway.2 He was the son of Even Evensen Sørum and Lisbeth Simensdatter Lundgård.1 Christian Evensen Glestadeie was baptised on Sunday, 1 January 1865 at Veldre, Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark, Norway.2

He was recorded as living with his parents and older siblings Karen, Syverine, Even and Agnethe in the 1865 census at at Sveum farm Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark, Norway. He was recorded as being 2 years old.1 He presumably lived with his parents at at Sørum farm near the town of Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark, Norway, on 1 June 1867. Their children were also likely living with them.3

At the age of 5 Christian emigrated from Christiania (now Oslo), Norway, on 27 April 1870 on the "Josephine" with his family.4,5 Christian arrived at Quebec, Canada, on 22 June 1870 with his family.4,5
