Frederick was born in 1819 at Glasgow.1 He was a blacksmith in 1841.1

Frederick Duncan emigrated from Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland, on 21 May 1841 on the The "Percy.2' He arrived on 28 August 1841 at Port Jackson, New South Wales.2


He was brought out by the partnership of Gilchrist and Alexander, who were immigration agents and had a storehouse at Bunker's Hill.1,3

He married Sarah Lowe, at St. James' Church of England on Thursday, 16 September 1852 at Sydney. The wedding certificate was also signed by Henry Hugh Hill.4,5 Frederick and Sarah lived in November 1853 at 145 Castlereagh Street, in Sydney.6
