Mary Walker was born in 1840 at Derby, Derbyshire.1 She was the daughter of William Walker and Elizabeth Tunnecliff.1
She was recorded as living with her parents, her grandfather and siblings John, Sarah, William and Jane in the 1851 census at Court No. 1, St. Werburghs, Derby, Derbyshire. She was recorded as being 11 years old.1 Mary Walker was a 'factory silk' (most likely a worker in a silk factory) in March 1851.1
