Jane was born circa 1830 at Derby, Derbyshire.2 She was the daughter of Richard Walker.
She was recorded as living with her father and younger brother David in the 1851 census at 5 Back Sitwell Street, Derby, Derbyshire. She was recorded as being 21 years of age.2 Her occupation was recorded as being a boot binder in the census.2
