William Alexander Hobkirk was born circa 1840 at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.1 He was the son of John Peter Hobkirk and Frances Mary Lecosne.1
William emigrated in 1852. William arrived at Tasmania circa 1853.
His father died 24 August 1882. He arrived in 1884 at Melbourne.1
He moved to Tasmania circa 1885.1 He moved to Queensland circa 1889.1 He was a schoolteacher in 1890.1
He was admitted to Dunwich Benevolent Asylum, in Dunwich, Queensland, on 3 March 1893 with paralysis. He stayed there for some time (with some periods of leave, and including a short discharge).1
William died on 25 October 1894 at Ipswich, Queensland.1
