Jane Gilbert was born on 11 May 1819 at Knockando, Morayshire, Scotland.1 She was the daughter of John Gilbert and Jane Coutts.2 Jane lived in January 1860 at 224 Union Street, Aberdeen.2 She was a domestic servant in January 1860.2
She married James Gibb, a shipmaster, son of Alexander Gibb and Isabel Sim, at the United Presbyterian Church at 74 George Street on Thursday, 26 January 1860 at St. Nicholas, Aberdeen..2,1,3
She was recorded as head of household in the 1861 census at 31 Upperkirkgate, St. Nicholas, Aberdeen. She was 41 years old.4 Her occupation was recorded as being a shipmaster's wife in the census.4
Her husband James died 20 July 1864 at the approximate age of 67, leaving her a widow at age 45.
At age 49 she made a will on 4 May 1869. In it she named her sister Elizabeth Webster, a widow, as sole heir and executrix.. (an unknown value.)5
Jane died on 29 June 1869 at Old Machar, Aberdeen, at age 50.1
On Thursday, 5 August 1869 it was ascertained that the value of the estate was £96 18s 11d, with £50 in cash and 6 months rent two properties - but the properties themselves were not included.6
