Herbert Ellison was born circa 1857 at Tranmere, Cheshire.1 He was the son of William Poppelwell Ellison and Martha Ann Leonard.1

He was recorded as living with his parents, two servants, and his three siblings Leonard, Frank and Jesse in the 1861 census at Upper Seymour Street, Tranmere, Cheshire; he was recorded as being 4 years old.1 Herbert Ellison was a scholar.1

Herbert Ellison married Lucy Elizabeth Calloway circa December 1877 at Birkenhead Registration District, Cheshire.2

He was recorded as head of household in the 1891 census with Lucy Elizabeth Calloway as his spouse at 12 Allerton Grove, Birkenhead, Cheshire. His age was recorded as being 34 years old. Also living in the house were his wife and five sons.3 Herbert Ellison was a bookkeeper.3

Herbert may have died circa December 1910 at Birkenhead Registration District, Cheshire.4
