Thomas McMunn was born on 15 July 1826 at Dublin.2 He was the son of Dr. John McMunn and Eleanor Maria Walker. Thomas McMunn was baptised at St. Mary's on Sunday, 18 November 1827 at Dublin.3

Thomas McMunn married Annie Spear on Tuesday, 12 December 1854 at Birr, Kings Offlay, Ireland. They were 28 and 24 respectively.4 Thomas McMunn was a Captain in the Madras Infantry, befoming a Major on retirement on 10 September 1869.4

Thomas died on 19 January 1870 at Dublin at age 43. He was buried on 24 January 1870 at St. George's, Dublin.4
