Charles Manthorpe was born on 29 May 1792 at Acle, Norfolk.2 He was the son of James Manthorpe and Elizabeth Allen.2
He may have attended the wedding of his brother in the marriage of William Manthorpe and Hannah Read in a Church of England ceremony on Sunday, 1 March 1807 at Herringfleet, Suffolk. They were married by Banns *which were read on the 8th of Feburary, the 22nd of Februay and early March ;William signed with a mark and Hannah signed with her name. Hannah and William went on to have some eleven children together.3,4
His father died 24 March 1840 at the age of 81. Charles was aged 47 when this happened.
Charles died in March 1868 at age 75.2
