Muriel Idelette Darby was born on 13 December 1889 at the Adelaide suburb of Woodville.1 She was the daughter of John Darby and Edith Watson.1
Tragedy struck the Darby family when John and Edith's son Kenny Darby, not quite two years of age, was shot dead by his seventeen year old brother Eustace on 23 February 1896. There was an inquest, and a verdict brought down of accidental death with no blame being attached to anyone.2,3
Her father died 2 July 1930 at the age of 76. Muriel was aged 40 when this happened.
Muriel died on 18 April 1954 at Kilkenny, South Australia, at age 64.4 Her body was interred at Cheltenham Cemetery on 20 April 1954 at Cheltenham, South Australia.5
