John Freeman Tierney was born on 28 November 1886 at Relaghan, County Monaghan, Ireland.2 As of circa 1920, John Freeman Tierney also went by the name of Jack the Irishman.2 He was a labourer in 1922.2 John lived in 1922 at Silkwood, Queensland.2

John Freeman Tierney married Constance Henrietta LeClare Nicholson, daughter of Daniel Malcolm McBean Nicholson and Catherine Ann O'Reilly, at St. Marys Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, 2 June 1926 at the Townsville suburb of West End, Queensland. They were 39 and 27 respectively.1 John and Constance lived in 1934 at Ernest Street, in Innisfail, Queensland.2 John Freeman Tierney was a labourer in 1934.2 John and Constance lived in 1949 at Edith Street, in Innisfail, Queensland.2 John and Constance lived in 1959 at corner Planet Avenue and Solar Cresent, in Innisfail, Queensland.2

John died on 22 January 1970 at Brisbane at age 83.2
