Michael Wootton was also known as Michael Oaten At this date, the name was listed as Wootton in the parish records and when one takes into account the fact that many surnames were speltand perhaps pronounced slightly differently during the early years of recording data, one is not too worried about the change of spelling. Another factor in the United Kingdom is the area accents which would have sounde d quite strange to people who were more used to the dialect of a different area of the country.1 Michael was born circa 1632.2,1 He was the son of Ralph Wootton and Mary Tucker.1
His mother died 12 March 1638 at the approximate age of 39. Michael Wootton was also known as Michael of Corfe.2
Michael Wootton married Susanna Turner on Saturday, 27 June 1671 at Clayhidon, Devon.2,1
Michael and Susanna Turner became the parents of Michael Wootton circa 1674.2,1
Michael died on 20 August 1691 at Otterford, Somerset.2,1
