Robert Oaten was also known as Albert Robert Oaten. Robert was born in 1916 at the Melbourne suburb of Clifton Hill.1 He was the son of Albert Edward Oaten and Violet Barbara Cheyne.

Robert died on 3 May 1917 at the Melbourne suburb of Carlton.2,3 His body was interred at Coburg Pine Ridge Cemetery at the Melbourne suburb of Coburg. He is buried in the Church of England section in plot CO-COE*D***543 with his parents.4,5
