Herbert was born at Forbes Street on Saturday, 5 February 1876 at Parkes, New South Wales. Herbert was born at the house of his father in Forbes St..2 He was the son of Donald Henry Nicholson and Anne Smyth. He lived with his parents at Goodrich, New South Wales, in April 1878.3
Herbert Flemming Nicholson married Lilien E Simcox in 1900 at Sydney.1
Herbert died on 20 September 1924 at Kempsey, New South Wales, at age 48.4,1 His body was interred at Kempsey West General at Kempsey, New South Wales.5
