Samuel was born circa 1727. He was the son of John Berjew and Mary Allambridge. Samuel Berjew was baptised at St. Michael's on Tuesday, 6 May 1727 at Overcompton, Dorset.1

His father died 20 January 1743 at the approximate age of 49.

He married Catherine Wiltshire, at St. Michael's on Thursday, 16 July 1761 at the village of Stoke Gifford near the city of Bristol, Gloucestershire..2 Samuel Berjew was also known as Reverend.3 He was the rector in 1765 at Minterne Magna, Dorset.3 He was the rector in 1766 at the village of Up Cerne near the town of Cerne Abbas, Dorset, a position he held for 54 years.3

Samuel and Catherine Wiltshire became the parents of Jane Berjew on Saturday, 26 December 1778 at Up Cerne, Cerne Abbas, Dorset.4,5

Samuel, as the father of the bride, along with Catherine may have attended the wedding of Jane and James MacKenzie Fooks, an architect and builder at the start of his career, by licence in a Church of England ceremony by Reverend Edward Matthew West at St. Mary's on Tuesday, 2 March 1802 at the village of Bradford Abbas near the town of Sherbourne, Dorset. Jane was 23 and her husband James was 21.. Others who may have attended include Ann Williams MacKenzie as mother of the groom and William Fooks as father of the groom. James and Jane went on to have nine known children together.6,7,8,9,10,11 Samuel Berjew was the Commissioner for Land Tax in 1809 at Cerne Abbas, Dorset.12

Samuel died on 11 October 1820 at Up Cerne, Cerne Abbas, Dorset. His body was interred at St. Michael's on 18 October 1820 at the village of Up Cerne near the town of Cerne Abbas, Dorset.13
