William Oaten was likely born circa 1794 at Pitminster, Somerset. He was the son of George Oaten and Betty Seymour.1 William Oaten was baptised on Sunday, 8 June 1794 at Pitminster, Somerset.2,1 He may have been born in 1796 at Pitminster, Somerset.3

William Oaten married Elizabeth Meacham, daughter of Samuel Meacham and Betty Irish, on Tuesday, 1 April 1823 at Otterford, Somerset.1

He was recorded as head of household in the 1851 census with Elizabeth Meacham as his spouse at Adcombe, Pitminster, Somerset. Also living in the house were their three children and his 104 year old mother.3 William Oaten was an agricultural labourer.3

William died on 24 February 1875 at Pitminster, Somerset.1
