Samuel Oaten was born on 15 September 1856.1 He was the son of George Oaten and Faith Farley.1 Samuel Oaten was baptised on Sunday, 12 October 1856 at Corfe, Somerset.1 He was a schoolmaster.1
Samuel Oaten married Hannah Ellen Lay, daughter of Edward George Lay and Hannah Sarah King, at St. Luke's on Wednesday, 28 December 1881 at Deptford, London.1
Samuel died on 13 January 1939 at Tunbridge Wells, Kent, at age 82.1
