     William Christopher Chappell was the son of Edwin Chappell and Harriet Oaten.1 NOTE: The information on this page is my research to date and is subject to change as I become better informed. William Christopher Chappell was born on 29 November 1869 at Bath.1

He was recorded as living with his parents and siblings Harriet and Edwin in the 1871 census at 2 Brook Place, Bath.2

He was recorded as living with his parents and siblings Edwin, Elizabeth, Albert and Arthur in the 1881 census at Bath.3

William Christopher Chappell began military service on Friday, 4 June 1886 with the Royal Navy. His initial engagement was for a period of 12 years, after which he started a second term.4

In the 1891 census William Christopher Chappell was single, 21 years old and listed as an able bodied seaman (AB) in a Royal Marine vessel; he was stationed at the H.M. Dockyard Devonport, Devon.1,5

William Christopher Chappell married Elizabeth Emma Farthing at St. Benedict's on Saturday, 18 June 1898 at Bonham, Stourton, Wiltshire.6 William Christopher Chappell was a petty officer in September 1900.7

In the 1901 census William, Elizabeth and their daughter were listed in Devonport, Devon.4 William Christopher Chappell was a petty officer.4 He ended military service on 24 November 1909.4

William and his wife Elizabeth emigrated from England in May 1910 on the 'Virginian.8,4' William and his wife Elizabeth arrived at Canada circa 1911.8


In the 1921 census William, Elizabeth and Rosemary were living in Niagara Falls, Ontario.8 William Christopher Chappell was a lineman with Niagara Hydro.4

William died on 28 December 1941 at Niagara Falls, Ontario.4
