Charles William Battle was born in 1883 at the Melbourne suburb of Fitzroy.2 He was the son of Charles John Battle and Mary Taylor.1 He presumably lived with his parents at at 135 Gore Street in the Melbourne suburb of Fitzroy in November 1884.3 He presumably lived with his parents at at Easey Street in the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood in November 1886.4 He presumably lived with his parents at Collingwood in January 1891. Although the house number isn't specified, the house owner is the same as when they lived at number 135.5 He presumably lived with his parents at at 135 Easey Street in the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood in 1896. This was a wooden house.6

Charles William Battle married Mayfield King at Hoddle Street Baptist Church on Wednesday, 23 September 1908 at the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood.7 Charles William Battle was a hatter in 1909.8 Charles and Mayfield lived in 1909 at at 3 Yeomans Street in the Melbourne suburb of Northcote.8

It was reported to family on Wednesday, 2 January 1918 that their brother Thomas had been seriously wounded in Belgium.9

The will of Elizabeth Burke, in which Charles William Battle was named sole executor was probated in October 1940.10 He was a felt hatter in March 1941.11 Charles (and presumably his spouse Mayfield) lived in March 1941 at at 23 Walpole Street in the Melbourne suburb of Kew.11

Charles died on 29 April 1943 at at 21 Bulleen Road in the Melbourne suburb of North Balwyn.12,1

After his death, he was remembered by the other members of the Freemason's Lodge of Jordan.13
