Francis E. Wesley was born circa 1856 at London.1 He was the son of William Wesley and Frances Hannah Wayte.1
His mother died circa December 1860 at the approximate age of 39 years. After the death of their mother, William Wesley remained with his two eldest sons in London, whilst the three youngest children were sent home to Derbyshire with his wife's sister Emma..1
He was recorded as living with his aunt Emma, a servant and two siblings in the 1861 census at Bulls Head, Swadlincote, Derbyshire. He was recorded as being 5 years old.1
