Thomas Malcolm Nicholson was born circa 1876 at Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire.2 He was the son of Thomas Nicholson and Elizabeth Roberts.2

He was recorded as living with his parents and older siblings Edwin, Amy, Martha and Alexander in the 1881 census at Alfred Street, Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire. He was recorded as being 5 years old.1 His occupation was recorded as being a scholar in the census.1

He was recorded as living with his parents and brother Rupert in the 1891 census at Marmion Road, Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire. He was recorded as being 15 years old. The Nicholson house was located next to Thomas' sister Effie's house, and in the same street as his son Peter's.2 His occupation was recorded as being a fisherman in the census.2

He was recorded as living with his mother and siblings Amy and Rupert in the 1911 census at 19 Marmion Road, Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire. He was recorded as being 35 years old.3
