Thomas was born circa 1840 at Buckley, Flintshire, Wales.3 He was the son of Samuel Ellis.2
Thomas Ellis married Martha Ann Nicholson, daughter of Alexander Nicholson and Martha Davies, on Tuesday, 27 March 1866 at Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire.2
He was recorded as head of household in the 1881 census with Martha Ann Nicholson as his spouse at Marmion Road, Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire. Also living in the house were five of their children.4 His occupation was recorded as being a sailmaker in the census.4
He was recorded as head of household in the 1891 census with Martha Ann Nicholson as his spouse at Church Gap Road, Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire. His age was recorded as 51 years old. Also living in the house were six of their children aged 7 to 24.5
Thomas may have died circa March 1896 at Birkenhead Registration District, Cheshire.6
