Samuel Nicholson was probably baptised on Tuesday, 23 March 1802 at Ulverston, Lancashire.2,3 He was the son of Donald Nicholson and Ann Metcalf.1
He may have attended the wedding of his brother in the marriage of Donald Nicholson and Jane Wetherell in a Church of England ceremony at St. Michael in the Hamlet on Monday, 17 May 1824 at Aigburth, Liverpool. Jane and Donald went on to have some 12 children together, seven of whom lived to adulthood.4
Samuel Nicholson married Sarah (?) circa 1830.1
He was recorded as living with his parents in the 1841 census at Milton Street (?), Howard Street district, Liverpool. He was recorded as being 30 (rounded down to the nearest five years). Also living in the house was his wife Sarah.5
