Edward Wayte was born on 28 August 1827 at Ashby-de-la Zouch, Leicestershire.1 He was the son of Thomas Wayte and Hannah Sharpe. Edward Wayte was baptised at Independent Church on Sunday, 16 September 1827 at Ashby-de-la Zouch, Leicestershire.1

He was recorded as living with his parents and siblings Mary, Emma and Maria in the 1841 census at Ashby-de-la Zouch, Leicestershire.2

He was recorded as living with family in the 1851 census at Swadlincote, Derbyshire. He was recorded as being 23 years old.3 Edward Wayte was a bookkeeper (an assistant in the office of his uncle, a manufacturer.)3
